The Ministry of Agriculture and Water has stated 'The Olivarejo' as sport fishing area without death during the 2009-2010 season until the next conversion river coarse fishing.
This is a stretch of the river Segura, near the Santuario Virgen de la Esperanza in Calasparra, which has been fitted with the creation of 31 posts of fishing.
The work has involved an investment of 105,000 euros and consisted in cleaning and clearing of the selected points, the mechanical excavation and concreting of the slab support and fishing platforms, the lining of the positions with limestone, plant restoration, cleaning the environment, as well as the placement of posters and signage.
The director general of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, Pablo Fernández, attends this morning to the fishing activity in that area will be developed and subsequent awards to be held in Calasparra (at 13:00 pm in the Casa Torre 'The Olivarejo').
Fernandez said that the Ministry aims to provide fans the sport fishing activities while "download fishing pressure on other sensitive areas, such as natural areas and Almadenes Cañaverosa."
Growing demand
The director general also noted that the adequacy of 'The Olivarejo' aims to "meet the growing demand of fishermen to the shortage of good fishing areas for the competition."
In this regard, noted that the area "is adapted fish capacity to hydro-biological conditions, generating an economic resource in a relatively disturbed, but still retains sufficient quality for this type of activity."
Fernandez concluded that fishing without death "allows sustainable use of fishery resources through the conservation of the species."
