A collection of drawings by José María Párraga set forth in Calasparra within the project'Itinerarios' Culture (31/10/2015)

The Ministry of Culture and Spokesperson and Calasparra City Council have organized the exhibition of works by the creator Murcia José María Párraga 'Notes on an infinite figure'.

Twenty leading creator drawings can be seen in the living Perez Piñero House of town until next January 10.

The exhibition, which has already been seen in other rooms of the region, such as eyes and Aledo, form part of the 'Routes', through which culture offers the municipalities in the region of artworks Collection of the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts (ICA) in order to contribute to increasing the cultural offer of the municipalities and encouraging closer to contemporary art.

The general director of the ICA, Marta Lopez-Briones, explained that, "thanks to 'Routes', more than 20,000 people across the region have come to know and enjoy the work of outstanding national and international artists in contemporary art through 15 exhibitions organized in recent months. In this time, is the work of Parraga, a key artist in Murcia plastic, link between tradition and modernity, which can be seen in Calasparra ".

In 'Notes on an infinite figure', visitors will see a total of 19 ink drawings on paper signed by Parraga.

Through these creations, made between the decades of the 60s and 90s of last century, it can be seen the artist's constant concern for the human figure: nude, popular scenes, characters that are hidden, monsters and mythological scenes, including representations .

The exhibition "Notes on an infinite figure 'will be open at the following times: Monday to Friday from 18:00 to 20:30;

Saturday, 12:00 to 13:30, and Sundays and holidays from 12:00 to 13:30 hours.

Trajectory

Jose Maria Parraga (Cartagena, 1937 Murcia, 1997) began to study Teaching in 1951, combining it with the classes in the School of Arts and Crafts of Murcia, where he trained with teachers like Jose Maria Almela Costa, Luis Garay, Clemente Cantos and Mariano Ballester.

He lived for a time in Madrid and later traveled to Holland and France, where he made contact with the Post-Impressionists, which marked his work.

In 1955, he began working Parraga master a profession that abandoned for lack of vocation and the following year made his first solo exhibition.

A few years later, in 1964, he participated in the founding of AUNAR group with painters Manuel Avellaneda and Aurelio Perez Martinez and sculptors Elisa Séiquer, Francisco Toledo Sanchez, Jose Toledo Sanchez and Jose Hernandez Cano, promoting renewal in Murcia art scene .

Throughout his career, Parraga used techniques such as drawing, pyrography and even illustrations in print.

His early works are figurative, but already showed some deformation or elongation.

From 1959, he began to experiment with collage and, around 1968, the influence of Picasso and Klee see.

In the 80s, an emotional crisis was reflected in broken lines of his work, but in the 90 recovered again its characteristic curved and winding routes, which also incorporated the color.

In addition to the sample of Calasparra, and also within the project 'Routes' Pedro Cano Blanca Foundation hosts until December 10 the project 'The office of gesture' in which a total of 17 works paintings are displayed in different formats , drawings and sculptures created by ten contemporary artists which include Antonio Ballester Moreno Murcia, Javier Pividal, Sonia Navarro and Vicente Ruiz.

You can also see works by some of the most outstanding representatives of painting of the 80s, as Anton Patino, Jose Manuel Broto, Anton Lamazares, Guinovart and Miguel Angel Campano, along with works by artists of a later generation as Pep Llambía.

'The office of gesture' remains open in Blanca Pedro Cano Foundation Wednesday through Friday from 10:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 19:00;

Saturday from 11:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 19:00, and Sundays and holidays from 11:00 to 14:00 hours.
