On Monday, May 21, returned from Riorges (France) Calasparra delegation that participated in the Tenth anniversary of the twinning between the two localities, led by Jesus Navarro Jimenez, Mayor of Calasparra, and Pilar García Vergara, president of the Committee Twinning.
On days 18, 19 and 20 May enjoyed the warm welcome of the families of Riorges and extensive program of activities prepared by the City Council and the Twinning Committee of the French town.
We note that in the framework of this celebration, there were two particularly emotional moments.
On the one hand, the opening of the Rue de Calasparra (Calasparra Street) in downtown Riorges.
Alternatively, the appointment as "Citoyens d'honneur de la Ville de Riorges" (Citizen of honor of the City of Riorges) Jesus Navarro Jimenez, Mayor of Calasparra, and Teresa Garcia Salinas, former president of the Twinning Committee Calasparra in recognition of the work they have done during the first ten years of the journey together.
At the official ceremony, the City of Calasparra delivered to the City of Riorges of a ceramic mural calasparreños the major monuments, the local artisan Hope Molina, along with two trees that were planted in the Park Beaulieau, a hackberry and jujube .
The Twinning Committee gave the French Committee Calasparra a charcoal drawing of the source of the slide, the work of local artist Begoña García.
On Saturday May 19 was inaugurated the Biennale of Contemporary Art "Land-Art", which over the course of Renaisson presented 11 works by French artists and other nationalities, selected by a jury from among 70 submitted creations.
All works are original creations, designed according to the place to occupy in the valley of that river.
Again, Calasparra was present with a stand at the fair flowers and local produce is held annually in Riorges.
This time the stand was located in the "Plaza of twinning" with the stands of Elland (England) and Donzdorf (Germany), the two towns twinned with Riorges since 1978 and 1979, respectively.
Throughout the weekend, thousands of people Riorges and other cities of the region visited the fair, stopping to buy these products and learn about tourism in our town.
Also, were implemented various aspects of youth exchange to be held from 14 to 22 July 2012 Donzdorf (Germany).
Such exchange will be attended by youth Calasparra Riorges (France) and Neusalza-Spremberg (Germany), housed in homes of young Donzdorf may share an exciting program of training and leisure activities, funded by the Program " Youth in Action "of the European Union.
Calasparra City Council and the Twinning Committee are already working on the new meeting to be held in Calasparra during 2013.
