Opened tourist space Cabezo Black (29/03/2011)

The mayor of the village, next to the Councillor for Tourism, inaugurated on Friday the new space tourism called Black Cabezo.

This is a space rated International Geological Interest for its uniqueness and is named for the intense black of the rocks that form lamproites.

A mound of volcanic origin that has attracted the attention of the experts sounded the alarm for the space that was exploited as a quarry to obtain stone for the roads in the years 50-60 and later was even used as dump , recover, and that is almost unique in the world, according to research conducted by the University.

wide, is an outcrop that provides a full volcanic apparatus.

The work consisted in the thorough cleaning of the area, improving access, and provision of recreational and educational accessories to the space is divided into four zones: viewpoints, volcanic deposit, access and recreational areas.

The local mayor said that this is a new attraction for Calasparra that surprises with its beauty and educational interest.

The Black Cabezo works involves an investment of 33,000 euros financed between the municipality and the Ministry of Public Works and Planning.

The Black Cabezo is situated opposite the junction with the Shrine Virgen de la Esperanza, in the right side of the road leading to the shrine.
