At the inauguration of the new "Open Theater" Calasparra (02/09/2010)

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, accompanied by the mayor of Calasparra, Jesus Navarro, today launched the so-called "Open Theater", a unique outdoor cultural space located in the surroundings of the castle, on the northern slope Cerro de San José, in a place dubbed as a Cultural.

The new cultural infrastructure has concrete bleachers for 600 people and lined with natural stone, that end up on stage in a semicircle behind which stands a building that represents an extraordinary viewpoint cafeteria and locker rooms, and a breathtaking views of rice fields and the valley of Segura.

The counselor, with the mayor of Calasparra and the mayors of Premia de Mar and at Premia de Dalt, which twinning occurs Calasparra today, together with the municipal corporation, found around the area, which also has a balcony that surrounds the hill where the shrine is located in San Jose and has been properly landscaped and equipped with a complete urban infrastructure.

Both the director and the mayor stressed the appreciation will mean for the environment these actions that give the town a cultural and artistic space unprecedented in Calasparra.

Open Theatre Works have been financed from the regional government, with 513,989 euros, and the City, with 171,330 euros.

A fragment of the representation of the play "Lysistrata" by Aristophanes, where he works the Thalia theater group and soon to be released in this place, and a brief concert of early music by The Danserye, enlivened the opening to approximately one hundred people attended the ceremony.
