The Community completes its work on the new 'Open Theatre' located next to the Castillo de Calasparra (02/09/2010)

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, accompanied by the mayor of Calasparra, Jesus Navarro, today inaugurated the 'Open Theatre', an outdoor infrastructure built in the surroundings of the Castle and the Chapel of the municipality.

The new theater is located in an area classified as a Cultural and works have also meant creating an itinerary of great scenic viewpoints, through the construction of a new landscaped promenade that surrounds the hill of San Jose.

The Minister stressed that "the same stage of the theater is a large veranda overlooking the valley of Segura and Calasparra rice fields, views that are, already, a show, so this action contribute to rebuilding a unique environment in our community through a new infrastructure that will also enhance the cultural and artistic town that currently is celebrating its Fair. "

The 'Open Theatre', which has capacity for 600 people, is situated along the northern slope of a hill where the castle stands.

Faces two valleys, one north and one south, which make up the unique landscape that characterizes this area of the region.

The infrastructure has concrete bleachers, covered with natural stone of the region, and a service building that houses the cafeteria and locker rooms.

The project also includes landscaping of the environment, with the provision of urban infrastructure and the upgrading of roads closer.

Investment of over half a million euros

The works of 'Open Theatre' has been funded by the regional government with 513,989 euro and by the City of Calasparra with 171,330 euros.

As indicated by the Minister of Public Works and Planning, "the aid that the regional government attaches to this project amounts to 75 percent of the budget of the project, which is included in the program of" public spaces Conditioning ', by Autonomous Community which supports projects that help preserve the identity of the 45 municipalities of the Region. "

"In this particular case, it seeks to enhance the natural environmental values of the Castle and the Chapel of Calasparra, which constitute one of the most outstanding places of cultural heritage and landscape of the Region of Murcia," concluded Jose Ballesta.

The adviser also attended the representation of the play 'Lysistrata' by Aristophanes, played by Talia group, and the concert of early music training offered Danserye, two shows which were for new facilities opened.
