Calasparra commemorates International Women's Day 2018 (09/03/2018)

The town commemorated on Thursday, March 8, International Women's Day with a rally in the Plaza de la Corredera called by the Department of Equality of the City of Calasparra, directed by Mari Carmen López Alba, who has scheduled various events until the March 17.

In the concentration, representatives of the Municipal Corporation, associations and local entities, such as the Reading Club;

political parties, such as IU-Verdes Ganar Calasparra, as well as PSOE, and workers who had supported the strike called by the Feminist Movement.

Aware of the need to claim many rights and justice for women, about two hundred neighbors attended the central act of the programming of the Women's Week: the reading of the manifesto.

Calasparra joined the thousands of voices that, this Thursday, have claimed justice for women around the world, making the commemoration of this year historic.

The mayor of Culture, Education and Tourism, Teresa Garcia, was in charge of transmitting the message, which was clear: women suffer an inequitable inequality in many areas, such as labor;

they are exposed to sexual harassment, abuse, discrimination, and violence.

It's time to say enough is enough!

A message that took the colors of machismo.

The act became an argument against a patriarchal system that allows inequalities, and served to remove social awareness about the situation of women and the power of citizenship to change things.

The IES Emilio Pérez Piñero the most demanding: 20% of the teachers and 75% of the students joined the strike.

The center established the minimum services.
