The Cave of the Port of Calasparra brought together this past weekend some of the best scientists and experts nationwide in cavities and spelunking.
The Seventh Scientific Day of the Sedeck, the Spanish Society of Caving and Karst Sciences, showed the peculiarity of hypogenic caves, a type of cavern that originates from the bottom up, by rising water stagnant aquifers, explained Andrés Ros, member of the Federación Murciana de Espeleología, being a good example, for its particular conditions of formation and geological development, the Cave of the Port of Calasparra, "a cavern almost unique for its uniqueness".
The conference also served to expose the latest discoveries and studies on the subject.
The General Director of the Natural Environment of the CARM, Consuelo Rosauro, attended the inauguration;
the councilor of the Municipality of Calasparra, Teresa García;
the president of the Federation of Speleology of the Region of Murcia, Andrés Hurtado;
the president of the Center of Studies of Nature and the Sea, Andrés Ros and the president of the Sedeck, Policarp Garay Martín, among others.
The conferences have been organized together with the Federation of Speleology of the Region of Murcia and the Center for Studies of Nature and the Sea and have had the collaboration of the Government of the Region of Murcia and the municipalities of Calasparra, Cieza and Pliego , as well as the local nature tourism company Qalat Aventura.
