Work begins to adapt the recreational area on the terraces of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Hope (01/12/2020)

The mayor, Teresa García, councilors of the municipal corporation, the President of the Stewardship, Fulgen Sánchez, Rafael Cerro, President of the Sanctuary Regulatory Council and members of the Stewardship have accompanied the Minister of Agriculture, Water, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment , Antonio Luengo and the General Director of the Natural Environment, Fulgencio Perona during their visit to the municipality.Work begins on this river promenade of about 175 meters in length which, due to the floods of the Segura River in 2013, deteriorated considerably.

In this way, visitors will be given a more secure and integrated space to stay with the Nature Reserve.

In this first performance the first part of the final work will be carried out.The works will have an execution period of four months and an investment of 200,255.00 euros co-financed with ERDF (80%) and CARM (20%) funds.The works consist of the demolition and removal of the rubble from the old wall and furniture, construction of a breakwater with large stone blocks, filling, compaction, paving and installation of security fencing in addition to benches, bins, signaling and native plant.“This was a request from the entire town of Calasparra, who have seen how since 2013 our Sanctuary continued with the terraces in very poor condition.

On numerous occasions we have asked the Autonomous Government to fix these terraces since it is their responsibility and today, 7 years later, we see that it is finally a reality ”.
