Two lost hikers rescued in the Almadenes Canyon (07/10/2020)

| The Civil Guard, environmental agents from Calasparra and firefighters from Cieza | On the banks of the Segura River, they were trapped and disoriented in an area that prevented their rescue on foot or by vehicle After five hours, they were able to be evacuated by zodiac to the point where land vehicles were waiting. The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with environmental agents from Calasparra and firefighters from Cieza, has rescued two lost hikers in the Almadenes Canyon. The events took place when the Benemérita received the notice that two hikers, who were making a route through the Almadenes Canyon area, between the municipalities of Calasparra and Cieza, were asking for help after being disoriented. According to the hikers' own indications, they were on the banks of the Segura River and, after several attempts, they were unable to return to the starting point. Immediately, and taking into account that soon it would be dark, a patrol from the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA), with the collaboration of an environmental agent from Calasparra, began their search. The device went to the well-known cave of the puppets, from where they began the march on foot, cross country, recognizing for two hours the ravines and paths that led to the point referred to by the hikers. The rescuers managed to locate them but, due to the relief of the terrain and the added difficulty of the absence of light, it was impossible for them to extract them on foot, so this circumstance was reported to the 112 Emergency Center. Members of the Cieza fire station came to the scene to board the rescue crossing the river from the opposite bank to which they were. After midnight, by means of a pneumatic zodiac, it was possible to evacuate the young people, who were exhausted, without warm clothes or food and with various injuries from bruises and minor erosions.
