Presentation of the 2020 Fire Prevention Campaign (24/06/2020)

During the morning of yesterday, the Campaign for the Prevention of Forest Fires, this year 2020, was presented at the House of Culture.

The mayor of Citizen Security, Antonio Merino, along with the Coordinator of Civil Protection Calasparra, Cesar Reales, José del Amor and Francisco Caballero, Civil Protection volunteers, presented the actions within the INFOMUR 2020 Plan and the municipal Emergency Plan against forest fires. In the presentation to the media, the mayor began by noting that the most important aspect of fighting forest fires is prevention, being the most effective action against their production.

"A dry and hot summer is expected, so we must all be united to prevent these possible fires.

All administrations must be coordinated to face this scourge and carry out prevention efforts with awareness campaigns like this one, in addition to putting all possible means within our reach, "said Antonio Merino. The Councilor for Citizen Security indicated that the Municipal Emergency Plan against forest fires has been submitted to the General Directorate for Emergencies for review and approval.

He thanked the work of Civil Protection, Local Police, municipal technicians of urban planning and environment, Environmental Agents, BRIFOR Agents and the General Directorate of Emergencies for the great work at the time of writing this plan. The Municipal Emergency Plan, as they have explained, coordinates all local and regional media, reflects and establishes the hierarchy between them and marks the operations that, if necessary, should be deployed in the event of a forest fire in the town.

A very useful tool so that firefighting teams can coordinate and act as quickly as possible.César Reales, coordinator of Civil Projects, has reported on the different means they have for this surveillance and prevention work, which is so important that they carry out.

As they are a permanent couple, with a surveillance vehicle and another with a water load, to carry out a quick intervention in the face of a small outbreak, which will intensify these surveillance tasks during the afternoons of this summer.

In addition, they continue working on the creation of a new aquatic rescue team, which currently does not exist in our community and our locality would be a pioneer. This dissemination and awareness campaign against fires becomes especially important in our town, since a few years ago it became one of the municipalities with the highest incidence of fires.

For this reason, it has also been encouraged to denounce any irresponsible or dangerous conduct that endangers our natural environment.A new volunteer program will be announced shortly, in which all interested people can register. This volunteer recruitment program was forced to be postponed due to the health crisis we have recently gone through.

This campaign, which will resume in July, will begin with a training against forest fires, semi-automatic defibrillator courses, first aid courses, rescue training in the aquatic environment and also in mountain rescue.

They have also taken the opportunity to encourage people to register.

and that they discover the good and satisfactory of collaborating in Civil Protection. The citizen security department has also claimed the need to have the COPLA plan (Emergency Plan for Intervention in Beaches, Rivers and Stagnant Waters) as soon as possible, requesting its implementation and activation by the competent Ministry in our entire region.

To prevent and offer safety to all bathers and athletes that this summer choose our beautiful region as a vacation spot.
