The mayor of Calasparra, José Vélez, the councilors Teresa García, Antonio Merino and Juan José López together with representatives of Cáritas Parroquial and Cruz Roja presented yesterday the extensive Christmas program that has been organized from the City Council.

Until January 7, Calasparra lives the Christmas period with magic, cinema, shows, traditional gastronomy, music, storytelling, children's workshops and any day of these celebrations is good to walk through its streets with family and the dearest.

The Christmas carols of these parties are interpreted by various local cultural entities.

Like the Calasparra Choral Association, the Golden Spike Dance Group, La Rondalla de Calasparra, the José Moreno «El Morenico» Municipal Music School or the Calasparra Music Band Association itself.

Calasparra shows his solidarity these days.

The Toy collection campaign carried out by the Department of Social Policy along with Caritas Parroquial and Red Cross in addition to the launch of solidarity lanterns, the afternoon of December 24, brings together Calasparreños and Calasparreñas with visitors in the center of the municipality .

An entire event that is followed by hundreds of people, managing to fill the sky of the town with incandescent wishes for the new year.

Another prominent solidarity moment is the popular San Silvestre race.

Hundreds of runners of all ages participate each year in the solidarity event that this edition will also allocate the collection to the “Drops for Niger†Campaign of UNICEF.

But if there is an event that distinguishes Calasparra, it is the presence in its streets of Juan Pelotero and the Innocents on December 28.

A day that in the town is marked by the tradition of Juan Pelotero and the Innocents, who have been walking the streets of the municipality for centuries, joking and "collecting" for the most absurd things, in a very peculiar way.

Shows for all ages

Musicals, live magic, concerts, bugles and drums, theater, cinema and traditions occur during these days in different cultural spaces of the municipality.

An appointment that we cannot miss is the concert by Fernando Gómez Martínez, a Calasparreño, who will perform a great piano recital.

“The New Generation of Magicâ€, magic, illusionism and escapism for the family audience on Thursday, December 26.

«FROZEN II» (Premiere Cinema) and «The Addams Family» will unite the family in front of the big screen.

For the little ones, fun is guaranteed and they won't have time to get bored.

The Christmas school, organized by the Department of Youth, is the place where children make everything they imagine come true: craft workshops, games and cooking, among others, occupy the mornings on vacation days.

Popular games on the street, the visit of Santa Claus and the Magi, with its spectacular cavalcade of music, dance and characters, complete a lively program that places children in the center of the festive activity.

Charming nativity scenes

Visiting the different nativity scenes installed in the town is worth it.

The municipal highlights its artisan pieces and their careful, meticulous and careful assembly, for which it has already been awarded several times regionally.

Next to the municipal, it also highlights the nativity scene of the parish of San Pedro Apóstol and the one installed in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Hope, which these days receives thousands of visitors.

Traditional and sweet gastronomy in Calasparra

During these days, in Calasparra there is no lack of traditional sweets and typical dishes.

Bakeries, confectioneries and the homes themselves still retain their own culinary traditions and inherited from the past.

Thus, there is no lack of traditional toñas, mantecados, cordial, ... that provide an extra authentic flavor to the meetings and celebrations of Christmas, and for which it is also worth coming to Calasparra.
