25N International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (19/11/2019)

The municipality of Calasparra joins the events that will take place on November 25, both in our country and worldwide.

The event will take place in the Plaza Emilio Pérez Piñero at 8:00 p.m.

In addition, we will have the participation of the Reading Club and the Youth Reading Club.

Violence against women is a structural problem, which is not characteristic of a specific culture, region or country, and that we can find in different social fields.

The Declaration on the elimination of violence against women issued by the UN General Assembly in 1993 defines violence against women as “any act of violence that has or may result in physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering for women, as well as threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether they occur in public life or in private life. â€In addition, this same statement reflects the concern that "Violence against women constitutes an obstacle not only for the achievement of equality, but also for development and peace."

According to the UN in general, violence manifests itself physically, sexually and psychologically and includes:

violence by a partner (physical violence, psychological abuse, spousal rape, femicide);

sexual violence and harassment (rape, forced sexual acts, unwanted sexual advances, child sexual abuse, forced marriage, stalking, street harassment, cyber bullying);

trafficking in human beings (slavery, sexual exploitation);

genital mutilation, and

child marriage
