The Region of Murcia, together with four other autonomous communities, is launching this year the pilot monitoring project to control the payment of aid from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
This system will begin with the applications for the aid associated with the cultivation of Calasparra rice, as well as for the Basic Payment System of inscriptions in Fuente Álamo.
These five communities will selectively apply, in certain CAP 2019 grants, the use of new technologies, such as satellites of the European Space Agency capable of making multispectral images with a frequency of five days.
The images will be processed in the servers of the Murcian Institute for Agricultural Research and Development and Food (IMIDA) and the results will be provided in the Integrated Management and Control System (SIGC).
Also, drones with cameras will be used to take georeferenced photos and videos.
The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Ángel del Amor, visited the rice field of Calasparra today, where he presented this pilot project whose purpose is to simplify and modernize the payment procedures for both the administration and the recipients.
Monitoring controls, Del Amor explained, "have a preventive nature and will be carried out continuously."
In addition, he added that "it has a system of prior alarms, which are intended to prevent the farmer from making mistakes when presenting the declaration, for which a regular follow-up and evaluation of all admissibility criteria is carried out."
Also, the monitoring can suppose a reduction of the load of work with respect to the current control.
"The intention is not to carry out inspection visits on the spot or to use them only as a last resort," the counselor specified.
