President Fernando Lopez Miras today praised the innovative capacity of the region's agri-food industry, and stressed that this sector "has been growing for over five years above 3 percent, during which the regional government has supported with 10.28 million euros to 320 projects ", which meant a total investment of 94.69 million, the creation of 470 new jobs and the maintenance of 10,352 jobs.
Lopez Miras stressed that in the last year the regional agrifood industry "has had a production of around 6,000 million euros, which is almost 32 percent of the total production of the region, and generates more than 21,000 direct jobs."
He explained that one of those projects that have been supported by the regional government is the new factory Nutripeople Reel Innovation, SL, which today opened in Calasparra.
This project has benefited from lines for productive investments launched by the Community, in particular almost 400,000 euros have been allocated for an investment of 887,000 euros.
In the president's opinion, "it is an example of how good a society can produce when there are entrepreneurs with ambition and desire to do things well, and create products to help those who need it most".
Nutripeople Reel Innovation SL is an innovative company that produces a product with great nutritional value, high in vitamins and micronutrients, and enriched with proteins, from surplus fruits and vegetables that are discarded for not complying, for example, aesthetic criteria of the conventional stores.
In addition, it is a very economic product, does not need a cold chain and has a shelf life of two years, so it is ideal for emergency situations and famine.
This company has had the mentoring of the European Center for Business and Innovation, the collaboration of the Technological Center of the Preserve and the Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters, as well as the tutelage of the team of nutritionists at the Reina Sofía hospital.
Tested product in Mauritania for 'Save the Children'
The products produced by Nutripeople Reel Innovation are specially oriented to the needs of the population of disadvantaged countries and humanitarian emergencies.
In fact, in its development process it has been tested in Mauritania with the collaboration of the organization 'Save the Children'.
The company is also working with 'Action Against Hunger' to test Nutripeople in Senegal and start a joint research project in the fight against hunger.
The inaugurated factory has a production capacity of 42 million containers per year.
