Last Saturday began the new legislature with the celebration of the Plenary Assembly of the new City Council and the election of mayor.
During the ceremony, which took place in the assembly hall of the Consistory, took place the possession of the new municipal corporation, consisting of 17 councilors, and the proclamation of José Vélez Fernández as mayor of Calasparra.
The first mayor has been elected at the plenary session with the 11 votes of the Socialist councilors in the first round.
The result of the municipal elections of 26M in Calasparra gave 11 councilors to the PSOE, 4 councilors to the PP, 1 councilor to Cs and 1 councilor to CVV.
In his speech, the already mayor appealed to the understanding and leave behind the confrontations, "we are going to do everything on our part to give a change of direction that leaves aside the differences and tensions that we have lived in recent years with the opposition "
José Vélez spoke of the projects he hopes to develop during this mandate, he said, "with the hope of working for all," for which he referred to various initiatives aimed at creating jobs "that will have our full support.
We are going to ask the different administrations to take us into account and we will put the interests of the citizens above all else. "
Likewise, José Vélez made reference in his speech to the pending subject regarding communications: the North highway.
He named two projects that he described as "basic" to improve the lives of the citizens of Calasparra: the Day Center and the new center for children.
The mayor also had ample words of thanks for all the people who have supported him during all this time and congratulated the new municipal corporation.
